Dr. Mark Lerner is a clinical and forensic psychologist with nearly four decades of experience helping people through challenging times. He sees individuals, couples, and families in his office in Melville, New York, and works with clients virtually and online. Lerner Psychological Services, P.C. specializes in Forensic Psychological Evaluations, Psychological Record Reviews, Psychotherapy and Comprehensive Reports, Extrajudicial Agreements, and the independent evaluation of law enforcement candidates.
As chairman and CEO of The National Center for Emotional Wellness, Dr. Lerner provides practical information, training, and support for organizations, corporations, educational institutions, and healthcare providers worldwide. He enjoys working with organizations and corporations before traumatic events in developing organization-based Crisis Management Teams. Dr. Lerner has consulted with and presented at hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, airlines, universities and schools, police and fire departments, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the United Nations in New York and Paris, France. The United Nations has appointed him an Expert Consultant with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security.
Dr. Lerner is the founding president of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and former chairman of The National Center for Crisis Management. He is the originator and creator of the Acute Traumatic Stress Management (ATSM) intervention model, which is utilized worldwide. He has authored several books based on this model, including Acute Traumatic Stress Management, Comprehensive Acute Traumatic Stress Management, A Practical Guide for School Crisis Response, and A Practical Guide for University Crisis Response. He has authored It's OK Not To Be OK ... During a Crisis, Surviving & Thriving ... Living Through a Traumatic Experience, and CrisisNotes.
Dr. Lerner is the creator of TruthJava (TruthJava, LLC), an emotional wellness digital venture that provides practical information, guidance, and support for people who have endured abuse, harassment, discrimination, or injustice.
